IMAP and SMTP over TLS
Use the mail app you already have on your phone, laptop or desktop. IMAP keeps folders in sync across devices; SMTP sends through our servers with TLS.
Spam filtering and virus scanning
Incoming mail is scored by rspamd and scanned by ClamAV before it reaches your inbox, so most junk and malware never gets through.
DKIM signing
Outgoing mail is DKIM-signed, which helps receiving servers verify that mail from your domain really came from you and improves deliverability.
Separate mail servers
Email runs on its own servers, separate from the web servers, so a busy website does not slow down your inbox and vice versa.

Setting up email for your domain
- Point your domain's DNS at us. The simplest way is to set your registrar's nameservers to
ns1.t-host.co.ukandns2.t-host.co.uk; we then host the MX, SPF and DKIM records for you. If you prefer to keep DNS elsewhere, add the MX record we give you at your existing DNS provider. - Create mailboxes in the control panel at my.t-host.co.uk. Each mailbox has its own password, and you can add aliases and forwarders for addresses that should land in the same inbox.
- Log in to webmail at webmail.t-host.co.uk to check it works, or add the account to your mail app using the IMAP and SMTP settings we give you. Choose TLS (SSL) for both.
Webmail or a mail app?
Both work with the same mailbox, and you can use either at any time. Roundcube webmail needs nothing installed and is handy on a shared or borrowed computer. A mail app over IMAP gives you offline access, notifications and unified inboxes across several accounts. Because IMAP stores your mail on the server, folders and read status stay in sync whether you read a message in webmail, on your phone or on your laptop.
Deliverability: SPF, DKIM and sensible sending
Getting your mail delivered to the inbox rather than the junk folder depends mostly on your DNS records and on how you send. When we host your DNS, the SPF record and DKIM key are published for you. DKIM signing is on for all outgoing mail. If you send from another service as well (a newsletter tool, for example), add that service to your SPF record and set up its own DKIM key so both paths are authenticated.
This is a hosting mailbox service, not a bulk-mail platform. It is intended for normal business and personal correspondence. Newsletters to large lists are best sent from a dedicated mailing service that handles bounces and unsubscribes properly.
Where your mail is stored
The mail servers, like the rest of the THOST platform, are located in the UK. Nightly whole-server backups cover the mail servers. Mailboxes are removed when a hosting account is cancelled and its paid period ends, so export anything you want to keep before then.
