Will my price go up when I renew?
No. The price you sign up at is the price at every renewal, whether you pay monthly or annually. There is no introductory rate and no setup fee.
How do I point my domain at THOST?
There are two ways, and either works:
- Use our nameservers. At your domain registrar, set the nameservers to
ns1.t-host.co.ukandns2.t-host.co.uk. We then host your DNS, including the records for your website and email. - Keep your DNS where it is. Leave your nameservers unchanged and add an
Arecord for your domain (andwww) pointing to the IP address we give you. If you want us to handle email too, add theMXrecord as well.
DNS changes can take a few hours to reach everyone. Your SSL certificate is issued automatically once your domain resolves to us.
Do you sell domain names?
No. We do not register or sell domains. Bring your own domain from any registrar and point it at us using either of the methods above.
What happens if I cancel?
You can cancel from the billing area at any time and there is no cancellation fee. Your hosting stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and after that your account, sites, databases and mailboxes are removed. Please download anything you want to keep before the end date.
How do backups work?
We back up every website and its databases once a day and keep those backups for 7 days. You can restore a backup yourself from the control panel. On top of that we take nightly backups of the whole server. Backups are a safety net, not an archive, so we recommend keeping your own copy of anything critical too.
Which PHP versions do you support?
PHP 8.2, 8.3 and 8.4. You choose the version per site in the control panel and can change it at any time. Sites run on Apache with PHP-FPM and support .htaccess, so WordPress and most PHP applications work without changes.
How can I pay?
By card through Stripe: Visa, Mastercard, and Apple Pay or Google Pay where Stripe supports them. Card details are entered on Stripe's form and are never stored on our servers. You can pay monthly or annually, and the price does not rise at renewal. We currently accept UK customers only.
Is email really included?
Yes. Every plan includes mailboxes at your own domain with IMAP and SMTP over TLS, webmail, spam filtering, virus scanning and DKIM signing. The number and size of mailboxes depends on your plan. See email hosting for details.
Can I move an existing site to you?
Yes. Upload your files with FTP over TLS (FTPS), create a database in the control panel and import your data, then point your domain at us. If you get stuck, email [email protected] and we will help as soon as we possibly can.
